Teaching Philosophy Statement

  • Listen and be open to get to know our ākonga, what they want to achieve and what their interests are. Design lessons around their needs.

  • To be open to try new teaching styles to engage and connect the material to all ākonga.

  • Teaching life skills, not just content. Encourage lifelong learning by leading as an example of consistently learning with the ākonga.

  • Keep my passion and enthusiasm in science and teaching alive. Make science relatable to ākonga life experiences and encourage open discussions.

  • Continually learning about and honouring the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, rather than tokenising the principles.
